This past weekend, I had the HONOR of hosting the Empowered Women Rise! Conference in Orange County, California. The conference hosted 10 empowering luminaries who spoke on leadership, business strategy, and women’s empowerment.
I wanted to share with you some of the big takeaways from speakers whose messages really resonate with both EMERGE! and creating a successful performing career. It’s powerful stuff, and I don’t want you to miss out on these words of wisdom!
Here are some of their main ideas and how they tie into living the performing life of your dreams.
Amy K. Hutchens: Change your thinking. Change your behavior. Change your results.
“It all boils down to two fears: I don’t have enough and I’m not good enough.”
YES, well said. These fears are also core beliefs that hold us back in life from going after what we want and getting it. It’s common to be afraid that your needs won’t be met, and that you aren’t good enough to make it in the industry. These are BARRIERS that you can and will overcome!
“You are the only person on the planet with the beautiful gifts you have.”
Whoa, right?! How often do we actually take a minute to think about how unique we are? Fundamentally we’re all human, but our combination of strengths, weakness, desires, and passions make us one-of-a-kind. Don’t forget this when you walk into an audition! You don’t need to compare yourself to others because you are you and no one else!
Nada Lena Nasserdeen: The Power In You – Becoming Your Best Self
“We get to choose our stories. What is my story?”
This isn’t just about how our story unfolds on the outside. It’s also about the story you’re telling yourself. If your story is that it’s too hard to make it as a performer, that you’re not talented, that maybe you made a big mistake in your career...it’s time to change your story. Ask yourself, and give it careful thought: What is my story? Reality reflects what you tell yourself!
“Empowerment only goes so far without education.”
It all starts with clarity and desire. And once you get clear, you’ve got the WHAT. From there, you have to think about the HOW. Here’s what I want, now how am I going to do that? This is where performing artist coaching can help. Learning and know-how are a big part of the creation process, and even the most empowered person will need to learn the HOW.
Kimberly Seltzer: How to Build Your Confidence and Charisma
“Perfectionism is fear.”
Truth, Kimberly! Perfectionism is the desire to be perfect and get it right ALL THE TIME. It plagues many of us today, and unfortunately, it’s not productive. It’s unrealistic, and to be honest, it’s downright unfair to expect of yourself. There will be triumphs and there will be failures in your performing career, and you can always learn from the things that don’t go our way. You are good enough even though it’s impossible for you to be perfect!
“People love people who love themselves.”
When you shine on the inside, you shine on the outside. People notice, and you attract abundance! When you love yourself, you walk into auditions more confident and ready to take on the outcome, no matter what that may be. That said, loving yourself is no easy task. It’s a work in progress for all of us, and if you set the intention, it will become a reality for you.
A big shoutout to ALL of the speakers and everyone who attended the conference! I met so many wonderful people full of big ideas, and I’m so proud that I could take part in the experience.
Much Love & Abundance,
Keenah 💋
